Please be advised: Due to the continued COVID-19 impact on the region and our operations, the Village of Flossmoor Village Hall and the Public Works Department will remain closed to the public this week and will re-evaluate opening the week of January 31.
During this time, residents are encouraged to conduct business remotely via mail, drop box, email or phone. Stay up-to-date with current Village procedures and mitigation efforts at www.flossmoor.org. Please see below for how to conduct business with the Village remotely.
Doing Business with the Village:
Residents are encouraged to conduct business via mail, drop box, email or phone. Drop boxes are located in the Village Hall parking lot and in the Police Department lobby. Contact the Village via phone at (708) 798-2300.
Water bill payments may be dropped off in the drop boxes in the Village Hall parking lot (no cash) or the Police Department (cash accepted). Visit www.flossmoor.org to learn more about online payments.
At this time, staff will not be conducting field visits for meter installations or drainage concerns.
New Water Accounts:
Application for new water/sewer accounts will be processed electronically. You can email a copy of the required documents to email@example.com or drop them off at the Police Department. Find out more about the required documents at www.flossmoor.org.
Building Permits and Inspections:
PDF's of all Building Permit Applications are available on our Permit Fact Sheets and Applications page. If you need a copy emailed or mailed, please let us know.
Completed applications should be emailed, faxed, delivered through our drop boxes or returned via U.S. mail along with any supporting documents (contractor requirements, signed copy of the contract, plat, etc.) and a check with the cost, if known. See our Contractor Requirements, Permit Fact Sheets and Applications and Basic Permit Fee pages or call our office at (708) 957-4101 for assistance. Payments are accepted at the drop boxes in the Village Hall parking lot (no cash) or the Police Department (cash accepted).
If you (property owner or contractor) are faxing or emailing your application, we will contact you when review is complete with the cost of the permit and ask that you send a check (with construction address on check or attached letter) in the mail or in our drop box in the Village Hall parking lot or in the Police Department lobby. At this time, our system does not support over the phone credit card payments.
We will then fax the completed permit, email a PDF copy of the permit or the permit can be mailed to you via U.S. Mail. We can also make arrangements for pickup at the Police Department.
Emergency services will continue normally and rest assured emergency response will not be compromised. However, at this time child safety seat installations, fingerprinting and other non-life-safety inspections will be delayed.
The Flossmoor Police Department will still take reports via phone or in office, but any in-person reports will be taken via phone or socially distanced, when applicable.
“The increased COVID positivity rate in the public and in the immediate area led us to implement necessary mitigation efforts. We need to slow the spread of COVID, not only for the health of staff, but to ensure the Village can continue to provide essential services to the public,” said Bridget Wachtel, Village Manager. “We are also implementing other internal protocols to protect Village staff and will re-evaluate our mitigation efforts after the new year.”
“We have a responsibility as your local government to follow guidance from the public health officials.” added Mayor Michelle Nelson. “We encourage the community to practice social distancing, mask wearing, and finally, get your booster shot.”
