The Flossmoor Police Department has been advised by the Illinois State Police Public Integrity Task Force that investigators are nearing the conclusion of the preliminary investigative work regarding the July 10, officer-involved shooting. With that knowledge, we anticipate that we will be able to issue additional information, including a detailed report of the event, as soon as possible.

We also want to assure the public that at this time we have released as much information and have been communicating with the media to the extent that the Illinois State Police investigative process will permit. 

For clarification on the investigative process, in the event of an officer-involved shooting, it is protocol to have the Illinois State Police Public Integrity Task Force conduct an independent investigation of the scene and the officer’s use of force. Additional information will be released at the direction of the Illinois State Police during the course of their investigation. The Illinois State Police Public Integrity Task Force, at the request of the Flossmoor Police Department, is currently conducting an independent investigation into the July 10, 2022 officer-involved shooting which resulted in the death of an individual.

It is the goal of the Village of Flossmoor and Flossmoor Police Department to be transparent with the public regarding the procedures being used to investigate the July 10, 2022, officer-involved shooting. As the investigation progresses, the Illinois State Police Public Integrity Task Force and Flossmoor Police Department will release relevant information in a manner that is timely and protects the integrity of the investigation. We ask for your patience and understanding to ensure this investigation is conducted to its fullest extent.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the deceased and all who were involved in this tragic event.
