Knox Box Program
The Flossmoor Fire Department utilizes the "Knox Box" key storage system to gain rapid, non-destructive access to your residence or business. Only the Fire Department is able to gain access to the Knox Box. These boxes are secure, may be connected to your burglar alarm system, and are listed by Underwriters Laboratory. Both Commercial and Residential key boxes can be ordered directly from www.knoxbox.com. The size and type of box are based on your needs.
All buildings, except residential buildings having less than 4 units, are required to have a KnoxBox in accordance with the Village of Flossmoor Code of Ordinances.
Should you change the locks to your business or home, contact the Fire Department at your earliest convenience to make arrangements for us to change the key(s) inside your Knox Box. If you have questions about a Knox Box or want to learn more about the box please contact the Fire Department at 708-798-3885.
Keys to vital areas of your business are required to be placed within the KnoxBox. Vital areas include the main entry door, an interior master key, roof hatches, and fire sprinkler rooms. The Fire Department understands that the cost of a key is often far less than the cost of repairing a damaged door or frame. Knox Boxes are able to be ordered directly from KnoxBox.com. If your Knox Box is capable of holding additional keys, they can be placed in the box as well. After you’ve installed the box, contact the Fire Department at 708-798-3885 to make arrangements for securing your keys inside.
The Fire Department allows residents the ability to purchase a residential KnoxBox for installation on their residence. Residents are able to order the box directly from www.knoxbox.com in a variety of options and colors. Consider one of these boxes if you have a medical call button or a debilitating medical condition. Once ordered, the box will ship directly to you. After you’ve installed the box, contact the Fire Department at 708-798-3885 to make arrangements for securing your key inside.
